2008-07-21

On July 11th in New York, the World Brand Lab announced its 2008 list of ¡§The World¡¦s 500 Most Influential Brands¡¨.  Fifteen Chinese brands were included on the list.  Air China advanced 42 positions since its initial listing last year, to a rank of 419th and was the only airline selected from China¡¦s civil aviation industry.

With Professor Robert Mundell, the 1999 Nobel Prize Laureate in Economics, as Chairman, World Brand Lab is committed to brand assessment, communication and management.  Now in its fifth year, The World¡¦s 500 Most Influential Brands list is judged on the basis of the world influence of brands.  ¡§Brand influence¡¨ refers to the capability of a brand to develop a market, obtain new markets and make a profit.  After studying 5,810 well known global brands, the Lab launched the world¡¦s 500 most influential brands based on the indicators of market share, brand loyalty and global leadership.

Air China, the leader of China¡¦s aviation industry in air passenger and cargo transportation, is the only airline carrying the national flag as well as a member of Star Alliance and a partner of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.  At the end of March 2008, Air China owned 224 Boeing and Airbus planes and operated 243 routes covering 28 countries and districts, including 69 international, 6 regional and 168 domestic routes.  Passengers can easily reach 81 domestic and 42 international destinations on the more than 6,000 weekly flights offering one million seats.

Committed to building a good brand image, Air China practices the 4C service concept of ¡§credibility, convenience, comfort and choice¡¨.  By continually paying attention to market trends and customer needs, Air China ensures optimum service and quality to all passengers.  By moving its operation to Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport, Air China provided an attractive and comfortable boarding environment for passengers and also seized the opportunity to build an aviation hub.

Air China cooperates with more than 20 world-renowned airlines in code-sharing.  In 2007, Air China formally joined the Star Alliance, further expanding its network to 897 destinations in 160 countries.  Building its brand image also comes with a high degree of social responsibility and Air China regards returning something to society as an important mission.  Following its successful completion of the ¡§Olympic Flame¡¨ charter flight tasks and a series of Olympic security works, the service and security of the Olympics is at the forefront of Air China¡¦s attention.
