Air China Initiates Olympic Volunteer Service
2008-08-06

Air China recently initiated a comprehensive Olympic Volunteer Service.  On July 29, 2008, Air China held a mobilization meeting consisting of over 100 volunteers who took the following oath: ¡§We are distinguished Olympic volunteers; we will try our best to make a contribution to safeguarding the Olympic Games regardless of reciprocation.¡¨

Yang Lihua, vice president of Air China, encouraged volunteers to ¡§realize the rewards of helping others¡¨.  He pointed out the Olympic Games are a major event for both athletes and volunteers and the volunteers would be representing spirit and responsibility.  The Volunteer Service is complex as it entails serving travelers from all over the globe in the world¡¦s largest single terminal.  With enthusiasm and dedication, volunteers will provide a countenance for the city of Beijing, the Beijing Olympics, and the state of China.  Volunteers will implement the ¡§Four C Service Philosophy¡¨ of Credibility, Convenience, Comfort and Choice to demonstrate both the elegance of Air China in addition to adding prestige to the Olympic Games through their participation.

During the Olympic Games, Air China volunteers will provide transportation of luggage (handed over before the relocation of check-in counters) to the Olympic Village, guiding Olympic family members to relevant check-in counters and diversion ports after passing through necessary procedures, maintaining order outside the Air China Olympic counters, helping to check the amount of luggage labeled ¡§Olympic Special Luggage¡¨, and providing foreign airlines with the necessary instructions and luggage labeling when needed.

The majority of the carefully selected Air China volunteers are young skilled workers who have mastered extensive operative skills from front-line production teams.  These volunteers will provide services such as luggage assistance, guidance, ancillary services and foreign airline services during the outbound peak times at the end of the Beijing Olympics.
